PASSENGERS REGULATIONS

Passengers are required to comply with these rules and the requirements set out on the vehicles in order to contribute to the maintenance of the necessary conditions of safety and regularity of the service.

They must also comply with the indications and provisions of NET and its staff, in compliance with the regulatory discipline provided for by the provisions issued by the Operations Management and by regional and state provisions.

PLEASE NOTE: in case of transfer from buses to ATM line, refer to the specific rules posted on trains, in stations and available on the www.atm.it website.

Passengers are required to have a suitable travel document and validate it.
All travel tickets:

  • they must be kept intact;
  • they must be kept until leaving the station and/or at the end of the journey, and shown at any request by the control staff.

On the NET network, children and young people enjoy special discounts depending on their age. Strollers and prams travel for free.

Checks on means and at stops are possible. Passengers who do not have a travel document, or who are in possession of an invalid, irregular or non-validated ticket will be sanctioned according to the provisions in force.

  1. TRAVEL TICKETS

Passengers are required to be in possession of a valid travel document and to validate it. All travel documents:

  1. are strictly personal and non-transferable and must be kept intact;
  2. must be retained until exiting the station and/or until the end of the journey,
    and shown upon request by inspection staff.

On the NET network, children and young people benefit from special concessions depending on age. Passengers traveling with strollers ride free of charge.
Checks may be carried out on board vehicles and at stops.
Any passenger found without a travel document, or in possession of an invalid, irregular, or non-validated ticket, will be fined in accordance with the regulations in force.

  1. PASSENGER BEHAVIOUR

Passengers must:

  1. take the necessary precautions to supervise, as far as it depends on them, their own safety and security and that of the people and animals in their custody;
  2. access the buses only at the stops, respecting the indications on the doors;
  3. hold on to the appropriate supports as sudden braking is possible;
  4. Let other passengers alight before boarding. 
  1. PHOTOGRAPHIC, TELEVISION AND CINEMATOGRAPHIC SHOOTS

Photography or filming, with handheld equipment without tripods and flashes, is permitted only in areas accessible to the public and without the commitment of NET personnel, means and materials.

Filming must take place in compliance with the regulations in force, without creating dangerous conditions, without hindering the regular performance of the service and in respect of the other people present.

Photographic, television and cinematographic filming for commercial purposes and/or intended for the press is permitted only with the prior written permission of NET.

  1. PROHIBITIONS

Passengers must strictly comply with the following provisions:

  1. It is forbidden to obstruct the operation of the service in any way whatsoever;
  2. Except in cases of emergency or danger, it is forbidden to activate alarm devices and emergency door-opening controls on vehicles, as well as any other emergency device fitted on board and identified as such;
  3. It is forbidden to lean out of windows or to extend any object or part of the body outside the windows;
  4. It is forbidden to throw any kind of object out of windows or doors;
  5. It is forbidden to board or alight from vehicles unless they are completely stationary;
  6. It is forbidden to board or alight from parts of the vehicle other than those designated, and at locations other than authorized stops;
  7. It is forbidden to board the vehicle once it is full and, in any case, when door closing has been activated;
  8. It is forbidden to lean against the doors or to stand near areas affected by door movement, as well as in other parts of the vehicle where standing is prohibited;
  9. It is forbidden to damage, soil, remove or tamper with parts of the vehicles and on-board equipment or devices;
  10. Spitting is forbidden;
  11. Smoking is forbidden on board vehicles. This prohibition also includes electronic cigarettes;
  12. It is forbidden to distract staff on duty from performing their tasks;
  13. Any behavior that may endanger one’s own safety or that of others, or cause discomfort to other passengers, is prohibited (by way of example: standing in front of doors, occupying more than one seat or failing to give up a seat to those in greater need, obstructing passageways and hindering the movement of other passengers);
  14. It is forbidden to shout, talk loudly on the phone, or otherwise behave improperly in a way that may disturb other passengers. The use of radios and other portable audio playback devices is forbidden unless used with appropriate headphones;
  15. It is forbidden to travel with weapons (except for authorized personnel), flammable products, corrosive substances, objects potentially dangerous to other passengers (for example, with sharp or pointed edges), or items that may cause disturbance or damage to others (due to size, odors, dirt, etc.);
  16. It is forbidden to travel while intoxicated or under the influence of substances;
  17. It is forbidden to board vehicles barefoot, wearing roller skates, or in conditions that may compromise safety or the regular operation of the service or provoke complaints from other passengers;
  18. Without the explicit authorization of NET, the following is prohibited on board vehicles:
    • distributing objects for advertising purposes or engaging in any form of commercial activity, including for charitable purposes.
    • engaging in activities as singers, musicians or similar performers, as well as collecting funds of any kind;
    • writing and/or posting posters or notices;
  19.  The unauthorized sale of travel tickets is prohibited.
  1. TRAVELLING WITH STROLLERS AND PRAMS

On high-floor buses (with steps), the free transport of strollers or prams is allowed only if folded. For safety reasons, the transport of strollers or prams in the open position is not permitted.

On low-floor buses (without steps), the free transport of children’s strollers or prams is allowed without the obligation to fold them, provided that they are placed within the reserved area marked with the appropriate symbol.
If the reserved area is already occupied by a passenger with a disability or by another passenger using a stroller or wheelchair, it is necessary to fold the stroller or pram.

Passengers with children’s strollers must ensure that they are secured using the appropriate brake and constantly held by the accompanying person to prevent movement or falls.

WARNING: When only one reserved space is available, a passenger with a disability using a wheelchair always has priority. Passengers are therefore requested, if necessary, to leave the area free by folding the stroller or pram.

  1. TRAVELLING WITH ANIMALS

The transport of animals is permitted under the following conditions:

  1. dogs, cats and other small domestic animals carried in a suitable container whose longest side does not exceed 50 cm (maximum two containers per passenger) are allowed.
    For each transported container, a standard fare ticket valid for the selected route must be validated.
  2. small or medium-sized dogs, fitted with a muzzle and kept on a leash, are permitted from the start of service until 7:30 a.m., from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and from 8:30 p.m. until the end of service.
    Only one dog per vehicle is allowed. For each dog, a standard fare ticket valid for the selected route must be validated.
  3. guide dogs accompanying blind or visually impaired passengers are admitted on board free of charge and without time restrictions, even if not wearing a muzzle. The dog must wear a muzzle only if explicitly requested by staff or other passengers.

Transported animals must be kept in such a way as not to cause disturbance to other passengers and must not obstruct aisles or boarding and alighting doors.
Passengers accompanying animals are responsible for them and are therefore liable for any damage caused to persons, vehicles or property.

  1. TRANSPORT OF LUGGAGE AND OBJECTS

Luggage must be placed on the floor in a manner that does not disturb passengers or obstruct passageways and must be constantly held by the passenger to prevent movement or damage.

The transport of objects or luggage exceeding 90 cm on any side, as well as items that by their nature may represent a danger or disturbance to other passengers (such as glass objects or materials with sharp edges, flammable, corrosive or explosive substances, dirty items or items emitting strong odors, etc.), is prohibited.

Exceptions are made for musical instruments in protective cases (maximum dimensions 150 × 50 × 20 cm), portage trolleys (maximum dimensions 100 × 70 × 35 cm), shopping carts on wheels, foldable bicycles (one per passenger, provided they are folded and do not exceed 110 × 80 × 40 cm).

  1. UNATTENDED LUGGAGE AND PACKAGES

It is forbidden to leave unattended, even temporarily, and/or to abandon on board vehicles or at stops bags, backpacks, objects, parcels or packages of any kind.

Any unattended object found shall be subject to inspection with the support of Law Enforcement Authorities.

Violation of this prohibition will result in charging any costs incurred for the recovery and/or disposal of the object.

Any interruption of public service shall be assessed in accordance with the law.

  1. FUNCTIONS OF INSPECTORS

Staff appointed to inspect travel tickets hold the status of Public Officials pursuant to Article 357 of the Italian Criminal Code.

Passengers are therefore required, upon request, to state their personal details and present an identity document.

Any refusal shall be punished in accordance with the law.

  1. PENALTIES

Violations of the provisions contained in these regulations shall be sanctioned in accordance with the law.

Staff responsible for surveillance and inspection are authorized to ascertain and report violations.
